Dear Parents

It is with deep sadness that our classroom doors have now closed due to the developing situation of COVID-19. In order to ensure a smooth transition for the children, I will continue to stay in contact with you all via the Scholarpack communications system.

By now, your child will have received a home-learning pack with activities that can be done while at home. These activities have been selected by the Early Years team with reference to specific areas of learning. Each fortnight, the Early Years team will email a new plan detailing activities to do at home. I have also listed some useful websites below.

It is a very difficult and uncertain time for us all and I am aware of how challenging the upcoming weeks may be.

Thank you so much for your continued support.

I hope to see you soon.

Miss Ross

This month, we have continued learning about Traditional Tales and have enjoyed finishing our wooden Spoon Puppets. The children loved acting out their favourite stories. We have also baked and decorated Gingerbread Men where we followed instructions carefully and weighed out the ingredients in small groups. This month we have also celebrated Valentine's Day by making cards, drawing pictures and enjoying other craft activities. The children have had lots of adventures in the new outdoor area and have continued to learn through play. In maths, we have continued learning Number Bonds 10 and addition within 10. In Phonics, we have come to the end of Phase 3 and the children have revisited sounds which they found difficult. After half term, the children enjoyed writing about their week off school. It has been a fantastic month in the Panda class!

This half term we are learning about Traditional Tales and alternative versions of stories. The children have enjoyed drama and acting out their favourite stories in the role play area as well as making and tasting porridge. We are decorating wooden spoons to create our own characters. This has been an exciting art project for the children. This month we have also enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year where we made paper lanterns and paper chains to decorate the classroom. In PE, we performed a traditional Chinese dragon dance which the children loved!  As a school, we raised money for Australia Wires Charity by having a non-uniform day. Thank you for your support, we really appreciate it! The outdoor area has been completed and the children have been exploring each area of learning whilst having lots of fun. In maths, we have been learning number bonds to 5 and 10 practically and through recording number sentences. As part of the New Year, we have been discussing our dreams and goals through Jigsaw Genie. What a busy month we have had!

What an exciting December we have had in the Panda Class. We have been working hard to practise for our Christmas Nativity Play ' It's A Baby!' The children were brilliant and the performances were fantastic! This month, we also had our Christmas Jumper day to raise money for charity. It was a great success! We have continued to work hard and learn lots of new and exciting things, inside the classroom and during outdoor provision time. It was also the Panda class stall and we were able to raise £137. Thank you to everyone who helped by baking cakes, buying them and running the stall. The children decided what toys they would like to buy and have been enjoying playing with them. It has been a busy but fun half term and the children are all excited for the Christmas break!
What a busy November we have had in the Panda class! This month, we have begun rehearsing our Christmas Nativity "It's a baby!". The children have loved singing the songs and working with the other reception classes. We are really excited for next month's performances. At the beginning of the month, the children also raised money for Children in Need by coming into school in non-uniform. We had a great day! We have also celebrated Diwali and enjoyed making Diva Lamps and learning the story of Rama and Sita. In the playground, we created Rangoli patterns using chalk. For Bonfire Night, the children created a giant firework picture using paint. It was very exciting! The whole school also learnt about Road Safety and how to keep safe when travelling near a road. It's been a busy and fun filled November!
This month, we have been having lots of fun learning all about Harvest Festival and Halloween. The children have been singing lots of Harvest songs in class and even made their own musical instruments! We have also been learning about Halloween and why it is celebrated around the world. We have made pumpkin plates, paper chains and split pin characters. We have also been continuing to develop skills in PE, such as balance, movement and coordination. In Phonics, we have practised our new phonemes and their accompanying Jolly Phonics actions. The class really enjoyed doing yoga in class and completing lots of mindfulness activities during our Wellbeing Day. The children also loved making Panda masks using paper plates. It has been a busy half term with lots of fun and learning taking place!
This month, the children have settled in to their first year at school. All of the children have enjoyed exploring the classroom, outdoor area and creative room. We have read lots of stories together and sang our favourite songs. In PE we have been learning how to change into our kit and move freely around the hall by playing lots of different games. The children have enjoyed forming new friendships and having adventures! We are all happy to be in the Panda class and are excited to share our learning journey with you.
