Learning is a partnership between home and school. All parents are welcome to come into school at any time; we pride ourselves on the close communication we have not only with parents but also with the local community.

We keep you informed on school life and future events through the use of our weekly newsletter, our website, twitter and sometimes through the use of e-mails and text messages. We also have class pages where each teacher can let you know what the children will be learning during the week/term. We also have notice-boards in the playground for displaying information.

We aim to promote a family atmosphere within school and encourage parents to help in the classroom and to share their expertise. There are many ways in which you can become involved in your child’s learning, for instance:

Open sessions

FS open morning 1

Parents of Reception children are invited into school on specific days during the year to share the learning journeys.

We hold an annual parents afternoon when you can see your child at work in the classroom. We also hold a Grandparents’ morning when grandparents are invited in to school to see the children at work.

We hold several events during the year to which you, as parents, are invited. These include our harvest festival, Christmas concerts, Carols round the Tree, Easter Parades, May activities, Sports Afternoon and summer class assemblies.

Educational visits

We encourage parents to help with visits to places out of school. If you can help, please let us know when you receive the letter informing you of the proposed visit.

Helping in School

We love parents and grandparents to come into school to help with things like reading, general classroom activities, helping groups of children with art activities.

If you would like to help in school please talk to your child’s class teacher or to the headteacher.
