The children enjoyed their trip to Temple Newsam House. During the day we learnt lots of interesting facts about people who lived in the house and the different Kings and Queens who visited there. We also got to make beautiful crowns and have a ball! In the afternoon, we enjoyed retelling the story of the Princess and the Pea. It was a fantastic day and the children had lots of fun!
Throughout March, the children have taken part in lots of exciting activities. During our whole school R.E. day, we learnt lots of interesting facts about Islam and Hinduism. We enjoyed creating a colourful picture to represent the Holi Festival, making crowns and learning about different cultures. This month the children enjoyed Pancake day and were able to taste yummy pancakes in class. The children also continued to practise their throwing and catching skills in P.E. as well and continue to demonstrate how to log on to and use a laptop. On windy days the children were able to design and make a kite which they got to fly outside. For Red Nose day we learnt all about the importance of wearing red in school and how we raise money for charity.
This month the Panda class enjoyed looking for mini beasts in the environmental area. The children discussed how to care for the insects and made safe habitats for the mini beasts they encountered. We all made great use of the outdoor area and had lots of adventures, playing games with each other. When it snowed, the children made snow-people and discussed the change in the weather and how the snow and ice might melt. What a lovely month we have had!
The children have settled in well after the Christmas break. We have enjoyed learning through play and displaying our work on the class topic wall. The children have continued to demonstrate a love of learning and supporting each other on this journey. This month it was Children in Need and all the children got to wear spotty clothing for the day and help raise money for charity.
The Panda class are busy getting ready for the Christmas break. We have made tree ornaments, Christmas cards and calendars. We also enjoyed our first Reception class Nativity play. It was fantastic and all of the children worked very hard. Each day, the children were able to take part in a variety of maths and phonics activities which linked with Christmas. In P.E. we continued to work on balance and movement.
